I am currently developing my Organization Plan for my Center For African Centered Intergenerational Programme Learning Research Caucus. According to the Small Business Start-Up Information for Northern California, I will describe my anticipated legal structure for my L3C. L3C is a Low-profit Limited Liability Company, a for profit business model that supports financing for socially beneficial enterprises that produce margins below those of a normal market-driven investment. This “third sector” hybrid will support the mandate to solve social problems through Ethnographic Research and meeting new challenges in my L3C Afrocentric Intergenerational Solidarity Model which will consist of six solidarity elements and will provide indicators of intergenerationl cohesion.
In view of contemporary issues facing African American families and the significance of multigenerational families, culturally relevant models of practice are called for. Dominant approaches to intergenerational research may be inadequate to meet new challenges to the intergenerational field, such as increasing complexity of program settings, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a mandate to address social problems.
